The celebrations, organized on May 3, 2025 by the management of the Zamoyski Museum in Kozłówka and dedicated to the Day of the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad, began with a Holy Mass for the Polish diaspora and Poles Abroad in the chapel of the Zamoyski residence in Kozłówka. The next element of the celebrations was the opening of a photographic exhibition: “3D Digitization of Polish Religious Heritage in the USA 2022-2024”, combined with a speech by Prof. Jerzy Montusiewicz from the Department of Computer Science (KI) of the Lublin University of Technology. The exhibition presented the results of the project “Research on the national cultural heritage of the Polish diaspora in the USA and the creation of digital memory collections” (no. NdS/545613/2022/2022), which was implemented in 2022-24 by the ECCC Foundation as part of the program of the Minister of Education and Science: “Science for society”, area: “Humanities-Society-Identity”. The exhibition presented the results of the project – 3D cloud and mesh models of the shapes and interiors of churches from Chicago, Milwaukee and Radom (in Illinois), which were created thanks to the participation of KI employees in the project (Prof. Marek Miłosz, Prof. Jerzy Montusiewicz, Dr. Jacek Kęsik and Dr. Elżbieta Miłosz). The project manager was Małgorzata Brzyska from the ECCC Foundation. The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin was also a partner in the project. The participants of the meeting also had the opportunity to enter the interiors of the Chicago churches (St. Jacek and St. Josephat) thanks to the use of virtual reality (VR) technology and glasses.
The exhibition, presented in the palace chapel, will be available until the end of May.
